Trondheim International School is home to a growing library collection. With over 9,000 titles in a variety of categories, we are able to offer reading material to both students and teachers inside and outside the classroom. The majority of our titles are written in English, however we have a wide selection of Norwegian titles together with other languages including, Swedish, French, Russian, Japanese, Chinese and Spanish which we plan to grow further to support mother tongue languages of our students. This year we are focusing on further building our online resource library and research links
Our library collection continues to grow and includes the following categories:
- Non fiction
- Picture books
- Chapter books
- Graphic novels
- Audio books
- Home Readers (fiction and non fiction)
- Guided Readers (fiction and non fiction)
- Teaching Resources
- Collection of online sites for research
The library system was designed to compliment the Trondheim Folkebibliotek (and most Norwegian schools) by utilizing the same Bibliofil computer software to process the collection and monitor loans and returns.
We continue to have a close working relationship with the Folkebibliotek particularly with respect to obtaining broader research material in Norwegian language.
By virtue of movable shelving modules, the library space is readily adapted for small multimedia presentations and other groups.
On a day to day basis the library is used extensively by classes, tutorials and student project groups.
